THE ASSOCIATION
The lake association was formed in 1946 to grapple with lake-related issues of the day and to foster camaraderie through sponsored social activities. Over the years those issues have included topics such as landfill location and maintenance, fire protection, water safety, fish poaching, road and signage improvements, and swimmer’s itch.
The Clubhouse – 11020 Rock Rd at Garfield Ave – was built in 1955, where bridge clubs gathered and where softball games, teen dances, shuffleboard and horseshoe tournaments were held. Today the Clubhouse is the site of our spring and fall membership meetings, Fourth of July events and board and committee meetings. Members may reserve use of the Clubhouse for family reunions and special events.
The Association was known as the Eight Point Lake Cottagers Association from its beginning in 1946 until the early 1970’s. Our official name has been the Eight Point Lake Property Owners’ Corporation ever since. People sometimes informally refer to it as The Association, the Homeowners’ Association, or the Lake Property Owners’ Group, just to name a few.

BECOME A MEMBER
If you are a property owner at Eight Point Lake and a new, renewing or prospective member, we invite you to get better acquainted with the Eight Point Lake Owners' Corporation. Meet the many people involved in making and keeping our beautiful lake a special place for all ages to live or vacation. Nearly 80% of property owners are Association members. A Lake Directory is included with your annual membership dues. The application form is available here or on the Forms & Documents page.
We still address the fun and safety elements, with an emphasis on education and protection of riparian and property values. These efforts are "labors of love" as a volunteer, non-profit organization with an elected Board.
Voluntary donations support several restricted funds defined on the membership form -- including the fish stocking program, flower fund, safety fund, recreation fund and the fireworks displays that folks enjoy so much. Donations also fund portions of the Fourth of July events.
We welcome your questions, ideas and membership! Some are highly involved in Association activities, serving on committees or the Board. Others like to help out as time permits on an as-needed basis. There are always opportunities to contribute in the short-term -- fun and easy ways, such as stuffing envelopes for the Spring Mailing, helping with the Road Parade, the 5K Walk/Run, bottle retuns for the Fireworks, fish planting in the fall and other activities. No one will "twist your arm," but if you offer, we just might accept!
